The Magic Potion 01/26/2012
Well we all know that there really is no such thing as a magic potion to repair the very things we would like to correct when it comes to our skin. But the honest truth is that serum components really do come close! What is a serum you might ask? Well I like to refer to them as the POWER HOUSE of your skin care regime. They are the highest concentration of anti-oxidants, vitamins and nutrients targeted to repair the very issues you wish to diminish or conceal. Whether you are looking to correct pigmentation, redness and irritation, trans dermal hydration loss, reduce the appearance of large pores or reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles this is a step i highly recommend you add to your regime. The molecular structure of a serum is often the thinnest component of your routine. The thinner consistency allows for optimum absorption penetration creating a faster delivery system to cells. Serums can be added to any regime that you are using currently and is often a great way to try a new line of product. If the serum performs so will the rest of the line. Of course I do believe using one system as the products are designed to work in synergy. So as you use up your other products create a regime using one brand. Serums can be used morning and night, work well under makeup. When implementing a serum to your home care regime apply after you cleanse and before applying your moisturizer. If you wish to stretch your budget and use your serum only once a day use it at night. Your skin goes into natural repair mode as you sleep so delivering the power house nutrients then will be the most beneficial to your skin. I recommend visiting a trusted professional for a proper analysis of the skin and what you are currently using on your skin at home to receive the most benefit for your investment. It is with great excitement and enthusiasm that we announce that effective August 2011 The Spa West 9th Street will be going green! Literally!!!! Of course we all know the importance of doing our best to reduce our carbon foot print in society today. At The Spa West 9th Street we have always been dedicated to providing you with the highest quality treatments and partnering with spa partners who care about our business, you our client and that of our environment. In 2006 The Spa West 9th Street was awarded the Double "E" Award from the Chamber of Commerce. This award is awarded to businesses who demonstrate leadership in supporting green practices. Earlier this year we decided that we wanted to take that one step further and become Owen Sound's only Green Spa. Effective August 2011 we will be adding the high profile Eminence Organics line as our main spa partner. In addition to our Haken Spa Collection all of our product used in house and that on our retail shelves will be organic or as free of harmful chemical as much as humanly possible. All of our skin skin care, makeup and body care will be paraben free, colorant and dye free and free of sodium laurel sulphate. Including Chemical Free Sunscreen! By reducing our exposure to less artificial chemical we reduce our chances of obtaining serious health risks such as cancer, skin cancer, and many other harmful diseases. Over the next few months and maybe even years, watch for our green initiatives and incentives that we will be passing on to your our client in order to enhance not only your visit with us but also to lead you to living a happy and healthy life! Do your part to lead a happy and healthy life! Tub of Bliss.... 01/21/2011
A New Year brings promise, change and new beginnings. After chatting with friends, and clients the number one resolution (goals as I like to call them) more of us wish to take time for ourselves and eliminate people and situations that cause us frustrations and personal grief. Taking time out for yourself can be as simple as 10-15 minutes to leaf through a magazine, sit in a quiet room and gather your personal thoughts or treat yourself to a latte or hot chocolate. My personal favorite is to have a hot relaxing bath! Nothing makes me feel more relaxed then pouring in the bubbles, scooping in the mineral soak and dropping in a tub tea and waiting for the water to get to the right level! As the tub fills I make myself a tea ( sometimes my new favorite blueberry tea - the NON HERBAL kind) and hopping into my tub of bliss with either a great trash mag, after all when your own problems seem to be too much, reading the problems of the stars makes me feel normal! My other favorite choice is the Food Network magazine, YES I find cooking relaxing!!, I sit and flip through the pages earmarking the recipes I will make over the weekend or next few weeks. After a long day or when I am completely grumpy, stepping into my tub of bliss makes me a completely different person! Sometimes it is 20 minutes and sometimes it is an hour! Set yourself a goal to do what you love and makes you happy at least once a week. If there is 7 days in a week and 24 hours in a day we deserve at least one hour of bliss a week! Enjoy what you love! Journals & Gratitude Entries 12/30/2010
As the end of a year approaches and the promise of New Year lingers, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all our valued spa guests, friends and families for making 2010 a successful year. We can not thank you enough for your patience and understanding during the very inconvenient but much needed reconstruction of 9th Street bridge. The bridge is now open! Parking is still parallel on 1st Ave West between 8th and 9th Street and is also a two way intersection at this time. As 2010 comes to an end, pour yourself a cup of tea and take a moment to reflect on the ups and downs of the year. Start a journal for 2011 and begin by listing achievable goals not resolutions that you would like to work on during the year. My goal for 2011 is to take more time for myself! Selfish NO! A wish woman once said " A healthy Women Needs to be a little bit selfish" Thank you Kara! That will be my motto for 2011 If journals are not your thing start a gratitude journal where you list 3-5 things you were grateful for that day! Everyone has at least one thing to be grateful for everyday. It could read something like this... Dec 30th - great latte, a walk with the dog in the gorgeous sunshine, perhaps a meeting with a friend. You get the picture. No rules, only your thoughts and gratitudes. Then look back at your entries even half way through the year. Wishing you a joyful, Happy and Healthy New Year!
